OK...I am finally back and feeling weak, but better...

Museum Catalogs were collected today. In lieu of a test we worked on the self test in our workbook on pages 215-230.

Chapter 28 read and complete workbook (Including Describing... page 133) that you did Monday and Tuesday while I was out is still due tomorrow.

Work over break.
1. Watch the YouTube Video The Power of Art (Rothko) and complete the worksheet (will post a video worksheet link to the class website).
2. Read chapter 29 and complete the workbook (questions and looking carefully).

Work over break due Monday April 12, 2010. Students whose artists presentations have not happened will present starting the SECOND day of class.

If you want to do AP review over break...take the self-quizzes at the back of BOTH workbook volumes.

Bake Sale 3-24-10


don't forget the bake sale for the Lenten drive to raise money for the orphanage is tomorrow. Bring pre-packaged homemade goodies tomorrow to the table outside student services.

There will be a project on architects assigned after next week's test concludes as well as a new chapter to prepare for after break...4 to go and review after the test on the 29th...you are doing a GREAT JOB!

March 17th


I hope everyone got a lot done in class. Tomorrow we will go over the MP Card, turn in both the MP Card and Chapter 24 workbook and start chapter 23 artist presentations. There will be a BRIEF 1-10 point quiz re: chapter 24.

BONUS: Claes Oldenburg creates MONUMENTAL sculptures. What style are they considered (ie: Reniassance, Baroque, etc.)? Where are the sculptures located? Draw a connection between his sculptures and ones made in other cultures. Come up with at least 1 connection from the European Tradition and 1 from the Non-European tradition. (5 bonus points of turned in 3-18-10)

March 16th


I will be at the Junior retreat during your class time on March 17th. Use class time to work on Chapter 24 reading and workbook questions.

Chapter 24 is due Thursday along with the new MP Card. Be prepared for a brief quiz on chapter 24. We'll have student presentations re: Chapter 23 topics on Thursday and Friday.

Looking ahead:

by Saturday 3/20/10 I will post the new Museum catalog entry for Chapters 23 and 24 and student presentations.

Monday 3/22/10 turn in permission slip and $ for the April field trip is you have not done so. (We will have a trip May 5th to Balboa Park also)

Wednesday/Thursday 3/24-25 will be testing on Chapters 23 and 24 (Masterpiece Card for the 25th will be discussed on the 26th)

Week of March 29th...AP Review...next chapters and architect presentations due after break. we'll have nightly review assignments and class discussions based off the review assignments...bringing together themes. 4 chapters and architecture to go...YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!

good news for you


I am going to attend PART of the junior retreat on Wed/Thurs. Wed. I will miss your class...you will have a sub and will be allowed to work on the workbook assignment for chapter 24...it will be due in class Thursday along with the new Masterpiece Card.

The project due Monday...will not be started till Tuesday. We'll start Monday discussing the Masterpiece Card and 23.
