As April concludes we finished our last Masterpiece card and discussed the Stuart Collection at UCSD.

May 1-12 we'll cover chapters 33/34 as well as review.

Museum Catalog 33/34 is due Monday 5-4-09 and a quiz on Thursday 5-7-09

we'll have a couple of short assignments and watch some movies after the AP Test.

AP Test Review

The AP Test is Wed. May 13th at noon...you'll want to be at school by 11:30. Please bring several #2 pencils and erasers. You do not attend school that day BUT are responsible for work that is due/missed. Let your teachers/coaches know ahead of time.

AP Review Sessions will be as follows:
Wednesday 5/6 at 7 am
Thursday 5/7 at 2 pm
Friday 5/8 at 7 am
Monday and Tuesday 5/11 and 5/12 7 am and 2 pm

Chapter 29 Quiz Monday...

Short Answer/Essay Questions to be taken from the following...

1. What is academic art? A complete answer includes examples of artwork that would be accepted by academies (and explain why) and includes examples of artwork that was NOT accepted by academies and explain why.

2. How did industrialization affect urbanization in the late 19th century?

3. How did cast-iron and steel affect architecture in the late 19th century?

4. Describe (and give examples of) REALISM in the United States.

5. Describe Post-Impressionism. A complete answer includes discussion of at least 3 artists and 1 work from each of the 3 discussed.

6. Argue why ELBOW is an appropriate memory device for the Impressionist Movement. Include at least 3 examples of artworks in your response.

7. Evaluate the various types of architecture constructed during the 19th century. Give an example of each. How did these styles reflect the century?

8. Assess the development of sculpture.Consider the foundation of the past, how did it influence and modify the work of the 19th century? Use examples to support your essay.
